SANDAKAN: The opposition’s propensity to twist facts by claiming that the Barisan Nasional (BN) government in Sabah has not done much is a reflection of their immature style of politics, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Haji Aman.
He lamented that even though the BN had clearly carried out a lot of effort to spur development in Sabah, the opposition continued to deny it.
Describing their act as deceitful, he said they would rather promise to give the people the moon and stars even though it was just a political gimmick based on empty promises.
“They go in and out of villages claiming that we have not done anything. What is all this? Don’t they realise, can’t they see that the development projects in town and rural areas have brought about great change for the better?
“All they do is hurl accusations at us but that can incite anger among the people because their intent is to get cheap support,” he said.
The Chief Minister was speaking when visiting the election machinery of the Taman Airport Zone at the Tinosa Kinabalu balairaya near here yesterday. Musa is the Sabah BN chairman and Sabah Umno Liaison Chief.
He strongly advised members of Umno not to be taken in by the opposition’s claims and said they should learn from the opposition-ruled states in the peninsula where the people are unhappy.
Without naming the state, he said it was very likely to regress since it came under opposition rule which was far different to a time when it was governed by BN.
He therefore urged people in Sabah to continue giving their support to BN to ensure its victory in the 13th general elections.
“There is no other better choice than BN which has fulfilled all its promises to the people and even more when the government decided to give out many kinds of assistance like BR1M,” he added.
During his visit, Musa who is the Sungai Sibuga assemblyman was pleased to note the high level of cooperation shown by the members in the Taman Airport Zone.
He was confident the people’s support for BN will continue to grow and there will be even greater teamwork among the members of the BN parties in facing the impending elections.
He reminded Umno members and leaders not to be complacent and to continue working hard to strengthen the party and to serve the people well.
Those present yesterday included Gum-Gum Assemblyman Datuk Zakaria Edris, Sekong Assemblyman Datuk Samsudin Yahya, Libaran Umno secretary Datuk Haji Basrah Abdul Rahman and Libaran Umno Youth chief Suhaimi Nasir.
